Apnea hypopnea index - add all the apneas and all the hypopneas then divide the total by the number of hours used. AHI below is regarded as "treated" but we generally like to get well below that.

It's sort of like measuring MPG on the car. You've drove for X miles and it took Y gallons. In this case you slept X hours and encountered Y events. Do the math and get MPG or AHI respective. It then gives the average and you can see how efficient things went during that trip or sleep session. For MPG the higher the better, but for AHI the lower is better. 5 AHI is commonly accepted as medically treated, but if you can tweak your PAP settings and get down to 2-3 AHI you will likely feel better. BTW 0 AHI isn't the goal, but a balance of low AHI and max comfort is considered a good and acceptable target.
