Hello All.

I've been on a CPAP now for 5 days. After some difficulty, in the last 2 days, I have been able to spend full nights with my mask. I'm currently using the Dreamwear Nasal Mask. My sleep doctor wanted to start me on it but thinks that I might have to move to a full mask since he thinks i might be a mouth breather. I unfortunately am not sure. I started using the amazing app SleepyHead and have noticed that I've been getting more Clear Airway events. From what i've been reading (which hasn't been much) i believe that's confirming that I am breathing through my mouth. I've attached my results from last night, would anyone be able to help me confirm that? Thank you in advance for the help.

Ignore your CAs. They do not reflect breathing through the mouth. You don't have enough to worry about...They reflect stopping breathing for 10 seconds + with no blockage. Very common for most people.

PAP Mask: ResMed AirFit P10 or DreamWear Gel nasal pillows
PAP Machine: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
Humidifier: ResMed AirSense 10
Pressure Setting: Depends on the machine as I actually have more than one

An occasional real central is normal. Like a sleep onset central or a sleep stage transition central.
Like LSAT said....they have nothing at all to do with mouth breathing.

If you are doing any mouth breathing to amount to anything it should show up in the leak rate numbers and your 95% leak rate number is so low it isn't even worth mentioning at 1.20 L/min. Ignore the max number because that is probably just a quick mask reseating or taking it off briefly.
I guarantee you that your 95% leak number is a heck of a lot better than mine. I do a happy dance if it is just in single digits like 8 or something.

ResMed won't flag a large leak until you hit 24 L/min and there are no Large Leak flags at all. See the LL on the Events graph? That's large leak and mouth breathing is a leak and it will show up if it happens.
A leak is a leak no matter where it comes from.
