Hello All, I am begging for some advice or help. Ill try to make it short. I have been on CPAP for around 2 or 3 years, Im on a minumum pressue of 14 - 20. I average at 15 and all is going well.

February this year i started to get tinnitus (mainly in my left ear), Then around 3 weeks after the tinnitus started i started to get noises like i had water in m ear (Mainly my left ear). I was so sensitive to loud sounds and could hear low base noises better than normal such as a car or airplane, I was like an ampiferer. I went to the docoors who said it could be conjestion.

They gave me stroids and deconjestion spary, week later it went! I was so happy! no tinnitus i was lovely

1 and a half months later it came back!!! I took the same conjestion stuff as last time and sure enough a week later it went!

Well a month later is came back...and it wont go away :(. I sit hear now with ringing in my left ear and it sounds and feel as if my ear drum is twitching. Now also my left ear is hurting! it hurts deep down inside my ear. The doctors say its Tinnitus and i need to live with it.

But i feel the tinnitus is being casued by something and if i can find the cause the tinnitus and pain will go.

Ever since this started my nose feels blocked (Sorry for being disgusting) but i dont have any snot in my nose nothing will blow out but its still blocked and cant breath out of it.

I have asked my sleep doctors is CPAP could be doing anything to cause this. They say no but im not too sure, as if i am conjestied surley the CPAP is blowing the conjestion deep into my ears??

I am English and in the UK, The majority of you are in America and i know your a great country for medical so im pleeding with you if any of you know doctors or anything please please can you ask. Ill be forever in your debt if you can help me.

Many thanks in advance

Rich.

I would try a different ENT. A second opinion never hurts.

Have you tried using a saline rinse or neti pot for the nasal congestion? Just because you can't blow anything out doesn't mean it's not compacted in there. I had very bad congestion a few months ago when I got sick and my doctor told me to use a nasal saline rinse a couple times a day and to take a decongestant. At the time, one of my ears would "clog" and stay that way all day. It only cleared up after going to bed and getting up the next day, until it would "clog" again if I blew my nose too hard.

For sure either see an ENT, or see a different ENT, but I don't see how a saline rinse would hurt in the mean time. I used NeilMed.

Good luck, I hope you get relief soon.

Hello,

thank you so much for your reply.

I forgot to mention i had a MRI Scan a few weeks back. Im going back to the hopital to get the results, hopefully soon. Fingers crossed he says its conjestion or something like that. Although knowing my luck he will say the MRI has shown nothing :(.

Saline Rinse? Ive never heard of it before but did a quick google. Is it something i make up and if so how? Or do you buy it from the shop? I am willing to try absolutley anything so i would like to try this providing i know how to make it correctly if thats what i need to do.
Thank you again :)

NeilMed has a dry saline powder that you mix into their special bottle with distilled water. I believe they also have a premixed solution. It's simple and comes with instructions. I'm sure you can also ask a pharmacist if it's not available where you are.

The specialists attempted an assortment of medications, yet none of them wind up fruitful by any stretch of the imagination. Thus, Todd considers experiencing his explorations lastly wind up fruitful in finding a cure when he was on an official visit to a Japanese Island Tonaki.

Had an experience similar not as intense maybe but drove me just as crazy! It effected ears very much like yours twitching or motorboat type sound for short period plus I also developed sore hoarse throat voice etc. went to an ENT he said to raise the bed under my head and start taking omeprazole nightly think it was 40 mg double the regular 20mg dose. Took a while 30-90 days and it did help. Acid reflux/Gerd complication kind of thing I guess. Good luck!

I have had tinnitus for 22 years. I understand your worry.

I occasionally get a blockage in my Eustachian tubes (glue ear). When that happens I get symptoms similar to what you have.

Concentrate on getting treatment for the pain. Tinnitus is bloody annoying but it isn't painful. Something else is causing the pain.

I believe you have nasal polyps.
The fact that steriod sprays are effective does make this a possibility.
You need to get a ENT referral to get this checked out probably with a scan.
I have tinnitus in my left ear and also a polyp in my left nostril.
I use a masker to help with the tinnitus and a steriod nasal spray, Nasonex, to shrink the polyp.

I have had tinnitus pretty much since I can remember. I also tend to get wax build up often so I usually clean out my ears with some peroxide periodically to loosen the wax. Usually if I don't feel my ears "pop" when I put my cpap on I know I'm starting to get some wax build up. Once my ears pop I feel pretty good no pressure or congested feeling.
