Post subject:  Still tired on APAP

I've been using an APAP for 2 months and it hasn't made any difference in my symptoms. I feel ok for about 2 hours in the morning and then gradually get more sleepy throughout the day. By 3 pm I'm a
zombie. I see my neurologist in a few weeks. In the meantime, I would appreciate diagnoses and any suggestions.

Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?
Any other health conditions going on that might impact how you feel?

Hi Pugsy
I'm not taking any medications. I've had a lot of tests, TSH T4 T3, echo,
stress test, and electrolytes. I think my doctors have run out of tests to give me. I'm healthy 6' 1", 175 lbs and do cardio 3 or 4 times a week.
But, I can only do the cardio after I have a nap. I've had excessive daytime sleepiness for many years. I finally found a group of doctors that believe what I'm telling them and don't blame my symptoms on something trivial like boredom. The problem is it takes 3 months between appointments with my current doctors. So, I was hoping someone could tell me if a higher minimum pressure might help, and if so how high. In my opinion, I think my pressure goes up and down too much. Also, does my data show a very mild case of sleep apnea. And if so is it possible to have pretty severe symptoms?

How's your sleep quality itself?
Wake up often during the night? If so, any idea why?

You might think your pressures goes up and down a lot but in the grand scheme of things unless you have some other reports where the max goes higher than 9 cm....your pressure isn't moving around all that much.
My minimum is 7 cm...and I will often see 14 to 16 or even sometimes 18 cm. Now that's a lot of pressure changes. :lol:

But it is entirely possible that even the slightest pressure change sort of disturbs your sleep so that your sleep quality itself isn't optimal and you do have more flagged events showing up than I would want to see on my reports....so yeah...give more minimum pressure a try and see what happens.
Something like 7 cm minimum would be worth trying.
So I would suggest more minimum pressure for 2 reasons...the changes might be affecting your sleep quality and there's just more flagged stuff on your reports than I would want to be seeing on my reports if it were me.

All good questions and info. I'm not aware of waking up but it's still possible that I am. The only other thing I can think of is that I have a rather firm mattress. Maybe I'm getting uncomfortable and keep switching from side to back sleeping and disturbing my sleep in the process. With my type of mattress, I can buy a softer inner core.

I will try 7cm and hopefully get rid of most of that stuff on my reports.

I hadn't thought of the pressure changes possibly disturbing my sleep. If that's the case the wrong APAP setting could be making me feel worse.

Anyway, I will be armed with more information to discuss with my Sleep Doctor.
