Hello,
For Resmed Autoset 10, what's the benefit of fixing max. Pressure?
And if there is benefit, so should I consider the pressure at which 95% of the time below?
Thanks,

PAP Mask: Practically tried them all.
PAP Machine: Use Phillips Respironics System One APAP with Aflex for mask testing
Humidifier: None
Pressure Setting: When testing, I use APAP with a range of 5-10

Set pressure you don't have to worry about odd respiratory event interpretations that cause the pressure to go too high or too low.

You can consider the 95th percentile as a good starting pressure if you're monitoring with a program like SleepyHead.

PAP Mask: ResMed AirFit P10 or DreamWear Gel nasal pillows
PAP Machine: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
Humidifier: ResMed AirSense 10
Pressure Setting: Depends on the machine as I actually have more than one

Sometimes people might have problems pop up when the pressure goes higher and the reason for going higher isn't that big of a deal and the problem just from the higher pressure is a bigger deal.

One example might be aerophagia or belly issues that pop up when the machine goes higher but don't when the max pressure is limited and the overall effectiveness of the therapy really isn't compromised by not allowing the machine to go past the line that causes aerophagia issues.

Another reason might be leak management. Maybe leaks are well managed until a pressure of 16 cm is hit and then things go to heck just because the machine wants to go to 17 and sleep gets disrupted and that's never a good thing.

So sometimes fixing the maximum is a benefit depending on why it is being fixed...but if allowing the machine to roam around doesn't cause any problems...then there is no reason to do it.
But there are any number of situations where having a fixed maximum works out a little better for some people.
