Wha'chooo talkin' 'bout???

Here is the definitions for the interested people! ;)

% Spontaneous Triggered Breaths = the percentage of patient breaths that were spontaneously triggered (initiation of IPAP).

% Spontaneous Cycled Breaths = the percentage of patient breaths that were spontaneously cycled (termination of IPAP and changing to EPAP).

(in my own words) In S/T mode for bilevel there is an option of the patient initiating the cycling of IPAP to EPAP, and EPAP to IPAP. This is Spontaneous or "S". Then there is the machine doing it based on the "T" or time setting in seconds. If you don't spontaneously trigger the change from IPAP to EPAP or EPAP to IPAP, then the machine does it for you.

So these values are the statistics for how many times you triggered the breath on your own, and how many times the machine had to do it for you.

so, when the mode is set at S, there is only spontaneous breathing, with no machine assist?

Correct. There isn't a safety net for it to change...but it is on a hair trigger!
