All GOOD!!!

My children and I have started to all get a fried turkey leg if we go anywhere that sells them. 1. They're delicious. 2. It disgusts my wife.

diamaunt, there will be no passing out of turkey legs, fried or otherwise. :) With this topic I have never been more excited about Thanksgiving coming up.

If I think someone is an OK human being, I don’t want them to die from animal protein overdose. Ok, WAY off track - sorry!

After my breast reconstruction, my plastic surgeon urged me to get plenty of protein, as my body needed to rebuild a fair amount of tissue. He stated that vegetarians have significantly slower rates of post-surgical healing. I figured he would know. Bring on the dead bird!

I started pushing my family to use brine first but they weren't that interested in trying it... so me and my wife made our own. I made up a brine from beef stock and Apple cider and pickling salts with basil, oregano, onion powder, granulated garlic for good measure. Brined the bird in a cooler with ice for about 2 days.

Turned out amazing and it cooked two hours faster then with out the brine.

Soooooooo.... guess who has to make the big Bird for the whole family this year... ya me. LOL

Hope every one gets to enjoy time with family and what ever culinary delights you love the most.

Take care and rest well.

Gryphon

Hubby likes to make brine, but instead of water, he uses CHAMPAGNE;
and it works best if he INJECTS THE BIRD with it. Mad scientist/frog.
